Long Beach, Calif. – April 10, 2011 – Justin Pawlak in the Falken Tire Ford Mustang earns the victory at the first event of the 2011 Formula DRIFT season. Matt Powers in the Need for Speed, KW Suspension Nissan S14 takes second place with Daijiro Yoshihara in his KW Supported Discount Tire / Falken Nissan S13 rounding out the podium in third place. more »

Being the first european car in the professional level of the Formula DRIFT series isn’t easy, but thats exactly what Michel Essa, Pro Formula DRIFT driver wanted. To be different, Essa teamed up with GSR Motorsports and KW suspensions to build the ultimate BMW drift car based on a E92 335i but powered by the amazing M5 V10 motor.

Another season of American Pro drifting with Formula Drift is soon about to start. As with any racing series, a pre-season tech inspection is necessary. For the 2010 season, Formula Drift and Universal Technical Institute (UTI) joined teams to opend the doors to drifters, students and the public alike for a up close and personal look at many of this season’s drift machines.

The instant Michael Essa got behind the racing wheel at 17 he knew it was where he wanted to be. From that moment on he has focused on the machine and the track, building a solid foundation to create a legacy in global motorsports. Essa opened Tech Trix Motorsports in Anaheim,California in the Spring of 2001.
